In the Quarter-final game, Pickering was 8 seconds away from a major update in the battle of the Trojans.  On their own 35 yard line and trailing 9-7, Ted Hulcio would haul in a pass and scamper to the Pickering 32 where he was tackled to apparently end the game.  However, Pickering was assessed a face mask penalty moving the ball deeper into Pickering territory and allowing one more play.  Jeff Whalley would kick the field goal to send McLaughlin on to the semi-finals.
McLaughlin coached by Tim Taylor.
